OTZAR

Privacy Policy · Last updated 5 November 2026

OTZAR is a personal money app. This policy says what happens to the information you put into it. It is short because very little happens to it.

Your records never leave your phone, unless you send them somewhere yourself. OTZAR has no account, no sign-in and no server. We do not receive your income, your spending, your giving or your notes. We could not look at them if we wanted to.

What OTZAR stores, and where

Everything you enter is kept in a database on your own phone: income, expenses and transfers; accounts, balances and budgets; projects and savings goals; repeating entries; the notes you write in the God section; and your settings. Nothing is sent anywhere — the app makes no network requests of its own.

Things that might look like they send data, and do not

Daily reminders. If you turn them on, your phone schedules the reminder itself. No push service is involved and no token is registered, so nothing about you or your phone is sent to anyone, including us.

Automatic backups. Once a day OTZAR writes a copy of your records into its own folder on your phone. Apple and Google include that folder in the backup your phone already makes. That copy is held by Apple or Google under their policies and encryption, as part of your phone's backup — not by us, and not on any server of ours. Turn your phone's backup off and the copy simply stays on the phone.

Sharing and exporting. When you export a spreadsheet, send a backup or make a PDF statement, your phone's share sheet opens and you decide where it goes. Once you send it, it is subject to wherever you sent it. OTZAR keeps no copy beyond the one on your phone.

What OTZAR does not do

Permissions

PermissionWhyOptional
NotificationsTo show the daily reminder you asked for Yes — the app works fully without it
FilesOnly when you choose a backup to restore, or save an export Yes — only at the moment you ask

Deleting your data

Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete and no request you need to send us.

Children

OTZAR is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone, children included.

Your rights

Laws such as the GDPR and Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act give people rights to access, correct, export and delete their personal data. In OTZAR you exercise all of them directly: the data is on your phone, you can read it, change it, export it to a spreadsheet and delete it. There is no copy with us to ask about.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a future version of OTZAR ever sends anything anywhere, this policy will say so plainly and in advance — not in a footnote.

Because OTZAR holds nothing, there is no account to close and no data for us to delete on your behalf — deleting the app, or using Reset everything under More › Reset the app, removes it all.
